MBS Light Show x2

Tuesday, December 6

The sisters went on the on/off bus tour for the second time today while I was at work.  They went to Sentosa, but didn't stay much more than an hour there.  They also took the river boat tour today.  They stayed on the bus so long both days, that everyone at the bus hub knew them!  Sounds about right :)

I met them at the apartment after work, and we headed to the Raffles Hotel.  The Raffles is the one of the most prestigious hotels in Singapore.  Rooms cost up to S$10,000/night.  It is very exclusive, and very grand.  The hotel itself is small, but the grounds are huge.  It is on an entire block and feels like a plantation.  There are many restaurants, bars, and shops and everything is very high end.

We weren't supposed to go into the lobby, because it's for hotel guests only, but the concierge did let us walk around for a few minutes to check it out. It is a grand hotel, and even grander with the Christmas Decorations.

We then headed to the Marina Bay Sands for the light show.  We were in a hurry, so we didn't have time to stop for dinner before the show.  We made it to MBS just in time for the 8p.m. show.  The mom's LOVED IT!  They loved it so much, we decided to eat dinner outside, and stay for the second show.  After the first show, I walked to a nearby pizza place, picked up dinner, and headed back.  We sat on the steps in the marina eating pizza, and drinking champagne and then stayed for the second show.

After the 9:30p show, we walked around the hotel.  The ice rink has been transformed to a Christmas exhibit, so they didn't get to see that, but we walked around looking at the stores.  We went to the observation deck on the 57th floor, so the mom's could see the swimming pool, and the view of the marina.  We also walked around the casino, and the remainder of the hotel.  It is such a large place, and you really feel like you could be in Vegas.

This was the mom's favorite night of the Singapore portion of the trip!
