Chinatown and Little India

Saturday, December 3

We woke up pretty early this morning, and headed to Orchard to walk around to see the Saturday buzz.  Orchard is extremely busy on Saturday's with a lot going on.  We went to Starbucks for coffee, and Dunkin Donuts for breakfast!  Doesn't get much more American then that!

I took the mom's on the MRT (the subway) today.  They did a great job getting around, and getting on and off the MRT very quickly.  Our first stop on the MRT - Little India!

We walked through the wet market in Little India, and saw all of the fish and seafood, the fruits and veggies, and everything else being sold. It's a pretty cool experience, and fun to see the fish and meat being chopped.  We then went to the Hawker Center in Little India so the mom's could try Sugar Cane Juice.  We ended up sitting for a while talking to a Singaporean man about Singapore.  He was also explaining geography to us... this was a very interesting conversation to say the least.  We then walked up and down the streets in Little India, looking in the shops, and at the temples.

We went back on the MRT to get to China Town.  We walked up and down the streets of China Town, walked through the Hawker Center, and stopped in a few shops.  We stopped for lunch at a seafood restaurant in Chinatown, and had a great lunch.  It started down pouring as we were finishing eating lunch, so we decided the next thing to do was reflexology. We asked for a few quotes from a few different places, and we found one that could take us all at once.  Most places were pretty busy due to the rain.  The Ewertz sisters loved it!  They didn't find it too painful either, and really liked it!  We sat for a while after they were finished because we were so relaxed we didn't want to leave.

We walked through the mall in China Town, I wanted to show the mom's the fish spa's that are popular in Asia.  A fish spa is a place where you put your feet in fish tanks, and let them eat off your dead skin.  We did not try it, but I wanted to show them one.

After walking around all day, we were pretty tried, and wanted to head back for the night.  We took the MRT back to Orchard, and stopped at Garretts on the way for a little popcorn!  Who needs dinner when you can eat Garrett's?!
